Why Coaching?
Coaching is a powerful way for people to achieve extraordinary results. It is a confidential, one-on-one relationship that helps you find out what winning at work means to you. Coaching can help you reach your goals and experience more satisfying and productive working relationships.
What is the Coaching experience like?
Partnering with a coach gives you a sounding board, a guide, and a source of support and inspiration. A coach stands for your best self and helps you get out of your own way. It’s exciting to see the transformations and energy that result from working in this way.
How does it work?
You set up a schedule with your coach (generally 2-4 times a month for 45 mintues each time and talk by phone or in person to help you reach your goals. The coach listens, asks questions, gives feedback, makes requests and helps you set reasonable and stretch goals. The coach helps you stay on track.
Is now a good time to hire a coach?
These are statements that have been commonly made by people that have gotten value from coaching with me.

- I know my people skills aren’t what they might be…but…
- I seem to get into conflicts with people and I don’t seem to know how to resolve them satisfactorily.
- Work is stressing me out.
- I know there is a way to be more effective at work, but…
- My emotional reactions sometimes get the better of me..
- I supervise a group and have some problem employees I really don’t know how to handle…
- I want to try on a different and better style of leadership but I don’t know how or what…
- I have trouble meeting my commitments and following through…
- I’ve been getting some feedback that I am hard to work with….
What are others saying about their coaching experience?
Ellen’s coaching has helped transform the performance of individuals in our organization with development areas that some would argue couldn’t be changed. We have been astounded by Ellen’s ability to break through barriers in order to build self-awareness, increase the desire to change, and help build the skills to make it happen. This, when other methods such as training and performance feedback hadn’t had an impact.
My coach helped me see things in a new perspective, in ways I had never considered. She helped me see how to break out of the old patterns of behavior that were keeping me stuck and gave me practical, effective suggestionsfor how to do things differently. It was great to have a sounding board and a safe place to discuss challenges and ways to approach them.
I can think of no better way to take hold of your career and personal development than to hire Canterbury Coaching. Working with Ellen helped me get clear about what I wanted to work on and how I was going to get there. The accountability that is inherent in the coaching relationship was a terrific motivating factor for me. When you know you are going to be seeing your coach at the end of the week, you want to make sure you have done your homework! I had always put my personal develooment on the back burner, receiving the same feedback year after year on the areas I could improve without ever taking action to do something about it. My coaching experience gave me a great framework for truly focusing on my development and making tangible progress. I’m looking forward to seeing new feedback on my performance review this year!
